What is ASTM A333 Grade 6 pipe

The ASTM A333 Grade 6 pipe covers nominal wall welded seamless carbon alloy steel pipes that are intended to work in lower temperature conditions. The ASTM A333 grade 6 is designed with a chemical composition of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. This gives the A333 Grade 6 pipe good corrosion and oxidation resistance in harsh environments.

A333 pipe material of grade 6 is designed with excellent mechanical properties. The material has a minimum tensile strength of 415mpa. The A333 Gr 6 material exhibits a minimum yield strength of 240mpa and can be elongated by 30 percent in the system.

The SA333 gr6 pipes are designed in nominal sizes of 1/2 NB to 36 NB and range in thickness between 3 to 12mm. LTCS ASTM A333 Gr 6 pipes are designed in schedules of SCH 40 to SCH 160 and XXS. The pipes are designed in the form of round and hydraulic shapes. The grade 6 of A333 pipe is available in lengths up to 18 meters or customizable.

ASTM A333 Grade 6 pipe is common use material for low temperature services in above -45℃, with yield strength minimum at 240 Mpa, and tensile strength 415 Mpa.

What is the wall thickness of ASTM A333 GR 6?

The wall thickness can range from 3mm to 12mm and there are different schedules to cope up with different pressure requirements.

What is ASTM A333?

ASTM A333 covers nominal (average) wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipe intended for use at low temperatures. Several grades of ferritic steel are included.

What material is a333gr6?

ASTM A333 GR. 6 carbon steel pipes are alloy pipes used in construction and engineering projects. They are made from a particular grade of steel that has been highly heat treated to create a solid material.

What is the minimum temperature for A333 gr 6?

The ASTM A333 Grade 6 low alloy steel seamless pipes are intended for low temperature services with minimum design temperature -45°C [-50°F] requiring notch toughness.

What is the allowable stress for A333 gr 6?

Based on ASME B31. 3 (Table A-1) the allowable stress for A106 Grade B is 16ksi to 500F; for A333 grade 6 is 20Ksi to 400F and 18.9ksi to 500F It would be fair to say that, given the application has an operating temperature greater than -20F, either A106 or A333 materials will be accceptable.

What is A333 Grade 6 pipe?

ASTM A333 Grade 6 Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes are Medium Carbon Steel Pipes with max 0.30 % carbon content with combination of 0.29 – 1.06 % manganese. These Pipes are most commonly used for general purpose applications worldwide. ASTM A333 Grade 6 Pipes are ductile and strong Pipes with long wearing properties.

What is Grade 6 steel?

Grade 6 is a low alloy steel similar to 4032 in properties. Tensile strength requirement for Grade 6 is 60 ksi minimum and notched-bar impact strength is 4 to 13 ft. lbs. depending upon section size.
